뛰어난 연주자들의 조합으로 밴드결성시부터 레게 드림 팀이라 불리며 관심을 모았던 루츠-레게밴드 노선택과 소울소스는 극동아시아의 오랜 뿌리적 사상철학을 바탕으로 루츠레게, 사이키델릭과 재즈, 아프리칸 블랙 비트위에 한국적인 색채와 그루브까지 한 폭의 수묵담채화처럼 펼쳐내는 한국형 레게밴드다.
2016년 3월과 9월 각각 카세트 테이프와 7인치 바이닐 한정판으로 발표한 첫 앨범 '헤븐 이즈 히어/송 포 리코'(Heaven is Here/ Song for Rico)이후 2016 일본 후지락 페스티벌(FRF), 홍콩 레게스카 페스티벌(HKIRSF), 2017년 미국의 시에라 네바다 월드 뮤직 페스티벌(SNWMF)등의 해외 유수의 페스티벌에 연이은 초청과 레게 뮤직의 아이콘 리페리(Lee Perry)의 미국 투어 오프닝액트 출연등 짧은시간동안 이례적인 행보를 펼치며 신작을 기대를 더했던 그들의 첫번째 정규앨범이 2017년 8월 발매되었다. 총 10곡이 실린 Back When Tigers Smoked LP는 자메이카 음악에 대한 사랑과 지식을 바탕으로 동아시아 한국의 기반을 단단히 유지하는 메세지와 사운드가 배치된 이들의 첫 정규앨범으로 루츠레게의 전형적인 공식과 답습을 뛰어넘어 소울소스만의 독특한 색채와 질감을 담아낸 것에 중점이 실려있다. 소리꾼 김율희와의 콜라보레이션, 커버 일러스트의 민화작가 김혜경의 복사골 호랑이 등 한국 아티스트들의 참여를 비롯 레게, 덥씬의 세계적인 거장 엔지니어 ‘우치다 나오유키 内田直之’는 아날로그 믹스와 릴테잎 레코딩, 디지털의 병행을 통해 서로의 장단점을 극대화한 사운드 메이킹 공동작업으로 소울소스의 사운드와 공간감을 성공적으로 만드는데 함께했다. 마스터링은 뉴욕 Sterling Sound의 Seth Foster, 제작과 배급, A&R 를 맡은 동양표준음향사의 열두번째 릴리즈이다.

Hailing from Seoul, Korea, NST & The Soul Sauce is an eight-piece roots reggae band that warms your heart and makes your soul dance.
With two feet firmly planted in roots reggae, their unique sound has elements of jazz, African beat, funk, soul, psychedelic, and nyabinghi blended with classic Korean pop. Along with influences of East Asian philosophy, they’ve created what they have dubbed:“Korean reggae." In March 2016, the group released their first seven-track cassette tape called Heaven is Here/Song for Rico, which has a tasty sampling of reggae, jazz, dub mixed with plenty of catchy hooks. With this one album and their high energy live performances, they have won rave reviews from not only Korean but also international critics and earned the act invites to major festivals such as Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival(Korea), Jarasum International Jazz Festival(Korea), Fuji Rock Festival(Japan), and Hong Kong International Reggae Ska Festival. In September 2016, they released a 7inch worldwide via Eastern Standard Sounds(Korea) and Jump Up Records(U.S.A.), which topped the album sales chart on ReggaeRecord.com. NST & The Soul Sauce will release their new full length album worldwide in June and kick off both domestic and international tours for 2017 including
Sierra Nevada World Music Festival(U.S.A.), CirculArt (Columbia), En Orbita (Chile) and Fuji Rock Festival 2019(Japan).
